"The Separation of Church and State in the U.S.: An Overview" by Tressa Weyer, U.S. Embassy in Moscow
It is believed that the Founding Fathers of the U.S. and its Constitution intended to separate the powers of government and church, through the First Amendment (providing the freedom of religion in the U.S.) and Article VI, which provides government officials and establishments the freedom from religious requirements. The issue has been interpreted in a variety of ways over the centuries, and continues to be hotly debated in American culture today. Please join us to hear a presentation by U.S. Embassy in Moscow Officer, Tressa Weyer, who will give an informative history of this important separation, and why it remains so important and relevant today.
