"The History of Radio Theater: Westerns" by Kore Gleason
Do you enjoy theater? Drama? Comedy? Action? With the age of television, it is hard for most people to remember or imagine that listening to the radio was an important cultural pastime in the U.S., joining families together and allowing the imagination to blossom.
We are thrilled to continue our adventures in old-time radio theater, and during the month of November we will learn about Westerns! Cowboys, pioneers of the Wild West, Native Americans, horses, mysteries, and adventure! Join us to hear brief lectures on the genre of Westerns in radio theater, then we will listen to radio broadcasts from the 1930s and 1940s, while sitting around a "fireplace," enjoying some tea and cookies, and having fun as our creativity flows with the radio play.
November 7th we will learn about "The Lone Ranger" and November 19th we will learn about "Gunsmoke", both of which were extremely popular shows in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, and would later become television shows and films.
Please join us for this exciting experience!
