Super-Sad-True-Love-Story-by-Gary-ShteyngartMr. Shteyngart exploded into the literature scene with his debut novel, The Russian Debutante’s Handbook, in 2003, which won various awards for first fiction. Full of wit and humor, his work quickly gathered a large following. His sophomore novel, Absurdistan, assured him permanent status in contemporary fiction, becoming nominated as Book of the Year by the Washington Post, Chicago Tribune and San Francisco Chronicle, and selected as one of the ten best books of the year by both The New York Times Book Review and Time magazine. In June of this year, Mr. Shteyngart was named as one of The New Yorker magazine’s top “20 under 40” luminary fiction writers.
Both novels contain a rich blend of satire and the fantastic, humorously exposing various absurd and laughable aspects of cross-cultural immersion. Born in Leningrad, Mr. Steyngart experienced much of this first-hand as he moved to the U.S. as a young boy with his family. He currently lives in New York City, and has written for several magazines and newspapers.
Gary Shteyngart’s third novel, Super Sad True Love Story, is now being released and we are eagerly awaiting its arrival! Mr. Shteyngart will read some excerpts from this new novel as well as discuss his experience with writing fiction and answer the audience’s questions!
