The American Center is thrilled to host again a very popular speaker, Jon Alpert!
Please join us to listen to Jon Alpert speak this time about his award-nominated film, “China’s Unnatural Disaster: Tears of Sichuan Province,” a documentary focusing on the tragic earthquake that hit the Sichuan province of China in 2008. The earthquake killed an estimated 68,000 residents – 10,000 of which were children.
During this presentation, we will watch parts of this emotional film and learn more from Mr. Alpert why this was an important story to cover.
As many of you will remember, Jon Alpert, over the course of the past 35 years, has reported on a wide range of topics and has often been the first – and sometimes only – journalist to cover a number of important international stories, from the hostage crisis in Iran to the killing fields of Cambodia. He is also co-founder and –director of Downtown Community Television. Alpert has filmed over 20 films, which have won myriad awards and acclaim, including 15 Emmys, and is a tremendously engaging and exciting speaker.
You won’t want to miss hearing him again!
