Cross-Cultural Conversations: Isadora Duncan in Russia by Meg Brooker Dancer, Visiting Instructor
Please join us to hear a fascinating lecture about Isadora Duncan, the "mother of modern dance!" Ms. Duncan single-handedly changed the discipline of dance, changing the discipline from the rigid doctrine of classical ballet to free-flowing movement. This change caused a legacy that still remains untouched. What many people do not realize is that Ms. Duncan spent extensive time in Russia between 1905 and 1921, when she founded her dance school in Moscow.
Come and hear about how this time in Russia impacted Ms. Duncan's life and art, and much more! This lecture will be led by Meg Brooker, who is a fourth-generation Duncan dancer. She is choreographer to many productions in the U.S., and is currently a distinguished visiting instructor at the Anglo-American School in Moscow.
