Contemporary American Theater by Graham Schmidt Artistic Director of Breaking String Theatre (Austin, Texas)
Please join us to meet and hear Graham Schmidt, Artisitc Director of a critically accalimed theater in Texas, Breaking String Theatre! Mr. Schmidt will speak about the current state of theater in the U.S. and give his perspective as artistic director of an avant-garde theater in Texas.
Breaking String Theatre derives its name from a line in Anton Chekhov's play, "The Cherry Orchard" - "Suddenly as if from the sky, the sound of a breaking string, dying away, forlorn" - and is unique in that its repertoire consists mostly of traditional and modern Russian plays (in English).
Mr. Graham will be in Moscow on a grant from the U.S. Embassy American Seasons Inititiave and Center for International Theatre Development, and will participate in the Lubimovka Festival. Please join us!
