A monthly series of lectures devoted to American music, particularly Grammy Award ® winners and their famous albums. We’ll learn and discuss what makes album a “hit,” the creative process in music, how do musicians achieve success in the record industry and what are unifying factors in winning albums (if there are any). Each lecture will cover individual albums/artists and over the course will include Frank Sinatra’s “Come Dance with Me,” Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” “Ray Charles’ “Genius Loves Company,” Taylor Swift’s “1989” and others.
This month’s lecture is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the album “Bad”, the most challenging one for Michael Jackson. You will find out more about Jackson’s collaboration with Quincy Jones, the way Michael was going to change the world, and complicated relationships between Jackson and the media.
Led by Dmitry Tsvetkov, a musician, literary agent and writer.
